The Naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body and treat the underlying cause of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body, and unfavorable lifestyle habits. Naturopathic Medicine emphasizes disease as a process rather than as an entity.

Treating both acute and chronic conditions, Naturopathic treatments are chosen based on the individual patient – their physiological, structural, psychological, social, spiritual, environment and lifestyle factors. In addition to diet and lifestyle changes, natural therapies including botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, Naturopathic manipulation and traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture, may also be used during treatments.

At The Clinic YYC, our Naturopath focuses on Naturopathic Treatments, Wellness Shots, IV Therapies, Acupuncture and Prolotherapy.

Selina is a Doctor of Acupuncture, and a graduate from the Alberta College of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine. She initially sought out an alternative approach to healing with acupuncture, herbs and diet therapy when the conventional methods were not helping. This sparked the desire to work in the healing arts! She started out with a Registered Massage Therapist diploma and has since expanded to learning to work with the body in a more detailed and holistic manner with Chinese Medicine and other natural options.

She is extremely passionate about the holistic approach to health and wellness, and is spreading the word on how important it is to practice self care from all angles. The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture approach was the perfect fit for this, as it encourages the body to heal itself and treats the person specifically, instead of just the symptoms one is experiencing. It can also be combined with Western medicine when needed!

When she is not treating patients, you can find her doing continuing education courses, reading all kinds of different books, spending time in nature, spending time with friends and family, and any kind of movement from yoga and pilates to lifting weights.
